City College of New York senior defender Heather Ruger (Montgomery, NY) was named Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 27 on Monday, in an announcement by the CUNYAC.
 
Ruger, a team captain who has anchored the Beaver defense for four seasons, helped the team go 1-1 this past week, including a 4-0 shutout victory over visiting Briarcliffe College in which Ruger had an assist. Ruger's long clearing kicks repeatedly put the Bulldogs back on defense even as she stymied their offensive efforts.
 
Ruger will next lead CCNY onto the field when they play host to Yeshiva University on Monday, November 4th at 9:00 p.m. Ruger will be one of three graduating seniors honored in a halftime ceremony as part of Senior Night.
