Watkis, the sophomore Épée, took home the Betty Santelli Épée Championship Trophy at the 2014 NIWFA Christmas Invitational on Sunday, claiming the gold medal with a first place finish. Watkis, who entered the tournament unranked, wound up claiming the championship in a field of 45 fencers. Watkis went into the meet with an overall season record of 38-21.
