Grover Cleveland High School product and men's basketball big man Matas Rascius was named CCNY's Male Athlete of the Week for his phenomenal efforts from the period of Monday, November 15th through Sunday, November 21st.
Rascius - who is expected to be a big part of the Beavers' interior gameplan this season - couldn't have started his season in better fashion, turning in two stellar efforts last week. On Monday, November 15th, CCNY held its ribbon-cutting ceremony for its brand new wooden floor in its home gym before the game, and then the festivities were over, Rascius was all business, as he connected on eight of his 10 attempts from the floor and dropped in 18 points while snatching seven rebounds in CCNY's 72-69 win over Mitchell.
Three nights later - the Beavers downed Yeshiva University 72-64 behind Rascius' perfect evening, as he went six-for-six from the floor and connected on all four of his free throw attempts, accounting for 16 points while also pulling down five boards and dishing two assists.
