5'11 sophomore and women's basketball standout Taryn VanEsselstyn was named CCNY's Female Athlete of the Week for the period of Monday, November 15th through Sunday, November 21st. The forward received the praise after turning in two hearty efforts this past weekend when the Beavers traveled to Carlisle, PA to participate in the Dickinson College Tournament.
On Saturday evening, CCNY was turned back by Farmingdale State University by a score of 60-32. In the loss, VanEsselstyn played well, knocking down four of her five attempts from the floor and recording nine points while pulling down 10 rebounds and swatting four shots.
A day later, in the consolation game of the tournament, the Beavers fell to Mary Baldwin by a score of 70-52. In that contest, the standout posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in 27 minutes of action.
