CCNY Baseball standout Raymie Fernandez was named one of the two City College of New York Athletes of the Week for the period of Monday, March 7th through Sunday, March 13th.
Fernandez was given the praise after his terrific performances during a six-game stretch which saw the Beavers put forth a 2-4 record. In a doubleheader split with Yeshiva in which CCNY one game one 3-1 and lost the second contest 6-3, the standout went 3-for-6 in the two games combined with three doubles, two walks, a run scored, and an RBI.
In the Beavers' two defeats at the hands of SUNY Purchase, Fernandez went 2-for-6 with a double, two runs batted in and a walk, and just yesterday in CCNY's home opening games against Plymouth State University, the right-handed slugger combined to go 2-for-6 with a pair of singles, a walk, two runs scored, and two runs batted in.
Altogether, Fernandez batted .389 in six games with seven hits, including four doubles.
