Baseball shortstop Andrew Romanella was named one of the two CCNY Athletes of the Week for the span of Monday, March 28th through Sunday, April 3rd. It was the second time during the 2011 season that Romanella received City College Athlete of the Week praise.
In the Beavers' 9-6 victory over the Bears of St. Joseph's College back on Wednesday, March 30th, the sophomore finished the game 2-for-5 with a pair of singles, a run scored, and an RBI. Then, in a doubleheader against Baruch College, he continued his great week. In a 3-0 loss to the Bearcats, the Allentown, NJ native went 2-for-3 with a double and a single, and then in CCNY's 7-3 game two victory over Baruch, the infielder went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles, two runs scored, a walk, and a stolen base.
For the week, Romanella went 6-for-11, hitting .545.
