Hoang Nguyen was named one of the two CCNY Athletes of the Week for the span of Monday, March 28th through Sunday, April 3rd. It was the first time this season that he received this praise.
The standout received this recognition after putting forth a perfect week. In City College's 6-3 defeat at the hands of Hunter College, Nguyen won both of his sets, pairing with Jaber Hoque to pick up a 9-8 victory at No. 3 doubles over the Hawks' Wilfredo Garcia and Stanislov Tsoy. He also solidified a victory at No. 6 singles, turning back Hunter's Garcia, 6-3, 6-4.
Later in the week, on March 30th, he helped CCNY edge Lehman College by a score of 5-4 by winning both of his matches. At No. 3 doubles, Nguyen and Hoque defeated the Lightning's Marcos Coto-Batres and Jorge Zapata by a score of 8-0. At No. 6 singles, he silenced Zapata, 6-0, 6-0
