CCNY right-hander David Titor was named one of the two City College Athletes of the Week for the period of Monday, April 18th through Sunday, April 24th. The veteran earned this distinction by coming up huge and becoming a big reason why the Beavers clinched a spot in the 2011 CUNYAC Baseball Tournament.
After a rough outing in relief in game one of a doubleheader against the College of Staten Island on Monday afternoon, Titor rebounded well. In game two of the doubleheader, he entered in relief and tossed three scoreless innings, allowing just one baserunner (a batter he hit with a pitch). Then, in a pivotal game against John Jay College on Friday morning at Randall's Island, Titor recorded the victory, coming on in relief of Andrew Mulvey and hurling 1.2 perfect innings as the Beavers defeated the Bloodhounds 5-3 and advanced to the playoffs.
In Game 2 of the doubleheader against John Jay College, Titor came on in relief of Gary McCool and threw zeroes towards the scoreboard again, providing 2.2 innings of relief work, allowing no runs while scattering a hit and fanning a batter.
His contributions for the Beavers will be key as the team looks to make some noise in the upcoming 2011 CUNYAC Baseball Tournament.
