New York, N.Y. – The City College women's soccer team capped a shutout victory on Wednesday, Oct. 12th with an impressive 4-0 win over York College. Behind a season-high three goals in the opening period, the Beavers dominated the match to improve to 4-6-0.
CCNY jumped out to its best start this season with a sensational offensive display in the first half. The Beavers found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute. Junior forward Sarah Diebbol played a great ball into the box and Melany Caceres quickly fired it into the net for first score.
Dina Sayd kept things going for the Beavers offense with the second goal in the period in the 28th minute, with the assist from Tatiana Zuluaga.
Closing the dominant half was Melany Caceres, who would net her second goal of the game in the 35th minute. Careers scored the goal unassisted, for her four goal of the season. The Beavers led York at halftime 3-0
To close out the game, in the 86th minute freshmen Tatiana Zuluaga chipped in her third goal of the season off a penalty kick.
The Beavers outshot the Cardinals 29-0, and had 12 shots on goal.
Catherine Langkamp made her tenth start in goal. Lampkamp posted her third shutout the season and faced no shots.
Up next, the Beavers will jump back into CUNYAC play on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m. as they take on John Jay College.
