CCNY MSOC Falls in Quarterfinals To Baruch, 4-2

New York, NY – The No. 3 seed City College men's soccer team fell to No. 6 Baruch College 4-2 in the quarterfinal round of the City University of New York Athletic Conference men's soccer championship.
 

The Bearcats goaltender  Xavier Carrillo stuffed CCNY's first scoring chance in the tenth minute.  Senior Kenan Redzematovic took header from 10 yards out, but Carrillo would make the save. The Beavers would have another scoring opportunity in the first half when Syed Haider fired a shot that would go wide right.

Baruch outshot CCNY in the first half, 3-2.

The Bearats would go on a run in the early second half scoring three goals within 10 minutes. The first goal came in the 61st minutes. Baruch's Marcello Neto scored the goal to put the Bearcats up 1-0. The second goal came when Jamie Zurro dished a pass to Oshae to go up 2-0. The teams third came from another Zurro assist, this time connecting with Shaiem Morad to take 3-0 lead.

The Lavender and Black would answer back with a goal of their own. In the 77th minute, senior Stephanos Hondrkis scored goal of the season after betting out goalie to score the teams first goal. The Beavers would score again shorty after in the 84th minute. Anthony Scarallo hook a pass to Syed Haider to put the game within one goal (3-2).

The Beavers had a chance tie the game with three mintues left, but Lanfia Diaby sent the shot wide right.

After a CCNY defender loss the ball, Baruch's Dortion Alipa  netted the teams fourth goal of the game to take the game 4-2.

CCNY finished the game with 11 shots and three corner kick opportunities. Maxwell Berkow made three saves in goal for CCNY.
 

The Beavers' 2016 campaign ends with a 7-9-1 overall mark. CCNY was 5-2-1 in CUNYAC regular season play and earned third place in the standings.
