Staten Island, NY – The Lavender and Black returned to conference play Tuesday evening with a game against the College of Staten Island. The Dolphins stifled City College as the Beavers dropped to 2-4 on the season with a 92-72 loss.
The Beavers got off to a good start in the game, leading after the first period 24-19.
The second quarter saw CCNY's lead grew to 10-points (42-32) after a made free throw by Natasha Almonacy (3:57).The Beavers entered the half leading CSI, 49-40.
In the third quarter the Beavers offense would start to struggle. CSI would go on a 25-14 run to end the quarter with a four point lead (69-65).
CSI's scoring momentum would continue into the fourth quarter. The Dolphins would outscore CCNY 23-7 in the final period and take the game with a final score of 92-72.
In the game, Erika Richards picked up 20 points, three rebounds, two steals. Alexis Akridge recorded her second double-double of the season, scoring 10-points, 12-rebounds and three blocks. Beatrice Wallace came off the bench to add 18-points and four rebounds.
The City College Women's Basketball team is now 2-4 overall and 0-3 in conference play. Their next game will be on the road in a conference game against Hunter College on Friday, December 9th, at 5:00PM.
