Women's Soccer Blanks Yeshiva, 9-0

New York, N.Y. - The CCNY women's soccer team got off to an auspicious start on Thursday evening with a 9-0 victory over Yeshiva University at Randell's Island. The team was lead by Marissa Olsen who netted four goals. 

The Beavers opened the scoring in the first minute as Senior forward Marissa Olsen scored off a conner kick. Seven minutes later, at 7:12, the Beavers took a 2-0 lead. Sophomore Marissa Scotto would score her first of two goals with a tip in 15 yards from the net.

CCNY scored seven more times in the second half.  At 56:44, Sophomore forward  Joyanne Voyard scored her first career goal off a shot rebound inside the right goal post. Freshmen forward Melany Careers would also record her first goal when she  sprinted down the right side of the field and kicked the ball past the keeper. Scotto would net her second shot by rifling a 25 yard in the goal. Olsen knock in three more shots in the second half with one coming off a penalty kick at 72:29. The final goal of the match came from Isabella Molina at 87:55. CCNY outshot Yeshiva 30-2 and had 19 shots on goal. Freshmen keeper Catherine Langkamp finished the match with a clean sheet. 

The City College of New York's  women's soccer team returns to the pitch on Sunday, September 4, when they face Bay Path College in Longmeadow, M.A.  The kickoff is set for 2:00 PM.
