New York, NY - The City College men's soccer program continued their CUNYAC campaign with a dominant 4-0 win over York College. The Beavers season-best offensive explosion Wednesday was highlighted by two goals from
Kenan Redzematovic. Freshmen
Miguel Muniz pitched in to score his third goal of the season and
Jimmy Mendoza netted his first goal of the year.
Kenan Redzematovic opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, finding the back of the net off a feed from
Anthony Scarallo. Redzematovic scored his second goal in the 32nd minute, hooking up with
Abdul Abdulai to take a 2-0 lead.
At the conclusion of the first half, CCNY outshot York 9-2, and held a 3-1 corner kick advantage.
The Beavers stayed hot to start the second half, scoring their second goal of the game just six minutes into the second half. Freshmen
Miguel Muniz would score his third goal of the season after quick passes from
Edgar Gutierrez and
Luis Castillo to put the team up 3-0. In the 82
nd minute, Sophomore
Jimmy Mendoza scored the fourth goal of the game, with a dished assist from Marcus DePompeis.
CCNY outshot York 18-5 overall, with nine of its shots being on net. Sophomore Marcus DePompeis started the first half in goal and had a clean sheet. Sophomore Halil Yerner came in the second half and made one save in goal for the Beavers
The win puts the Beaver's at 5-4-1 overall and 3-0-1 in conference play. CCNY currently sits at first place in the CUNYAC standings. CCNY will look to continue the momentum on Saturday, Oct. 1 against Hunter.
