New York, NY - The City College women's basketball team defeated John Jay 77-55, on Wednesday night in at the Doghouse. The Beavers improve to 8-11 and 4-7 in conference play.
The game started competitive between both teams. City College led John Jay by two points (16-14) at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, CCNY stretched their lead and went into halftime with a 13-point point lead (41-28).
The Beavers largest lead of the game was in the third quarter, after a layup from Shakirra Smith that would put the team up by 27-points over the Bloodhounds (61-34).
In the fourth quarter, CCNY closed out the game outscoring John Jay 77-55 in the contest
Sophomore Debra Chan lead the scoring for the Beavers with 19-points and dished four assists. Freshman Elizabeth Zullo scored a season high 17-points and had six rebounds. Senior Alexis Akridge posted 15-points, five rebounds two assists. Senior Marissa Olsen was a point shy of a double-double with nine points and 13-rebounds.
The City College Women's Basketball team is now 8-11 overall and 4-7 in conference play. The team will play Baruch College Saturday afternoon on the road at 1:00pm.
