Brooklyn, NY – The CCNY women's soccer fell short Monday night to Cairn University, 4-2. Sophomores
Daniela Grisales-Agudelo and
Gabrielle Duchaussee continued their excellent play with a pair of goals in the loss.
Senior Courtney Novak gave Cairn a 1-0 lead just 14:55 into the game. Senior Natalie Lyon was credited with the assist.
With 25:01 passed in the game, Grisales-Agudelo tied the game with a tantalizing shot from the left side of the box.
Cairn came back and answered in the 30
th minute. Novak buried a shot from 10 yards out to put the Highlanders up 2-1.
Just six minutes later, freshman Julianne Albrecht put Cairn up by two, after hitting a shot from outside the right box, aided by Novak.
The Highlanders continued their momentum into the second half. Katie Ruitto scored the team's fourth goal in the 47
th minute.
Despite the wide margin, the Lavender & Black did not give in. Duchaussee got the Beavers on the board of their second score of the game and her 14
th of the season in the 89
th minute.
The Beavers were outshot 19-10. Freshman
Samantha Castro and sophomore
Catherine Langkamp each had three saves for the Beavers.
CCNY will take on Yeshiva University on Sunday, Oct 29
th. The match is set for 5:00 pm at Aviator Sports Complex.
