Brooklyn, NY – The City College women's basketball team fell to the Brooklyn College Bulldogs Tuesday evening, 76-56. The Beavers shot just 25.9% from the floor and 15% from beyond the arc while committing 20 turnovers. With the loss, the Lavender and Black are 8-13 overall, and 4-9 in CUNYAC Play
Senior Alexis Akridge had a team-high 14 points and seven rebounds in 33 minutes. Senior Erika Richards struggled from the floor, shooting 4-for-20, but finished with 10 points. Debra Chan ended with nine points. Marissa Olsen picked up her sixth double-digit rebounding game with a game-high 11 and shot 4-for4 from the free throw line.
CCNY started the game off well in the first quarter. Debra Chan buried a trey in the quarter to give the team a five-point lead (10-5). CCNY ended the first period leading Brooklyn 18-16.
In the second quarter, Brooklyn would answer back to outscore CCNY 25-to-15 in the quarter. The Bulldogs would lead City at halftime 41-33.
In the third period, free throws from Brooklyn's Olivia Colbert gave the home team a 17-point lead in the quarter.
The Bulldogs entered the fourth with a 53-42 lead and extended further when Breanna Maresca hit a three-pointer to give her team a then game-high 22 point edge with 2:46 to go. Brooklyn closedout the game to win 76-56.
The Lavender and Black return to the floor on Friday evening in Jamaica, NY against York College at 5 PM.
