Throggs Neck, NY - The CCNY women's soccer team fell to Maritime College 4-1 in non-conference action Monday evening. The Privateers pulled away in the second half, scoring four goals to close out the game.
CCNY scored in the first half take a 1-0 lead.
Amy Gomez netted the goal in the 43
rd minute, aided by an assist from
Gabrielle Duchaussee.
In the second half, the Privateers offense would break through. Maritime scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the second period to lead 2-1. Julianna Avitto scored both goal, collecting her fifth and sixth goals of the season. Less than 20 minutes later, Sara Wright scored off a penalty kick to make it 3-1. Avitto closed out the scoring for Maritime with her third goal of the game in the 85
th minute.
The Beavers out shot Maritime 19-10 in the contest including 12-5 in the first 45 minutes. CCNY also had a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
