NEW YORK, NY – Four players in double figures helped earned The City College of New York women's basketball team a 79-29 win over John Jay College Wednesday evening at the Nat Holman Gymnasium.
The 50-point win is the largest margin of victory this season for the Beavers.
CCNY put together a dominant first quarter with a season-best 26 points, shooting 55.6% from the floor including 4-of-10 from beyond the arc.
Erica Redwood,
Ashley Brooks,
Madison LaSalle, and
Crystal Blair were all in double figures as CCNY dominated the game from the opening tip. The win moves the Beavers to 12-7 overall and 6-5 in CUNY Athletic Conference play.
Redwood dropped in a career-best 20 points and had eight rebounds and eight steals in 23 minutes. Brooks's posted 15 points and 10 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the year. She pair also added a pair of blocks.
LaSalle finished with 14 points and has scored in double figures in six games. Blair ended with 10 points and six rebounds.
Junior
Emily Arias reached nine points, five rebounds, and a season-high five assists. Junior
Debra Chan picked up eight assists and five rebounds in 29 minutes. Freshman
Melanie Torres pulled down nine rebounds.
The Beaver return to action on Friday, Jan. 26 at Baruch College.
