BROOKLYN, NY – Four players in double-figures led the CCNY women's basketball team to a 91-37 win over Medgar Evers College in their 2017-18 regular-season finale.
Debra Chan,
Madison LaSalle,
Ashley Brooks, and
Emily Arias were all in double-figures as CCNY dominated the game from the opening tip.
The win moves the Beavers to 15-10 overall and 9-7 in conference for the regular-season.
Chan finished with a career-high double-double of 25 points and 12 assists, playing a complete game of 40 minutes. Lasalle dropped in 15 points, shooting 4-for-9 from long range.
Brook's tallied 14 points and 12 rebounds, for her 12th double-double of the year. She also added a season-high six blocks in the contest. Arias ended with 18 points in the win, shooting a season-high 71% from behind the arc.
Freshman
Crystal Blair had her seventh double-digit rebounding effort of 12 boards. Senior
Erica Redwood added seven points and eight rebounds while freshman
Melanie Torres contributed seven rebounds in the win.
The Beavers finished the game shooting a season-high 49.2%, going 32-for-65 from the floor. CCNY was also hot from beyond the arc, knocking down a season-best 58.1% of their shots, shooting 18-for-31 from deep.
The Lavender & Black will now shift their momentum to the postseason. The team has earned the fifth seed in this years CUNYAC Women's Basketball Tournament. CCNY will face with fourth-seeded Hunter College this Sunday in the quarterfinal round. The game is set to tip-off at 1:00 pm at the Hunter Sportsplex.
