NEW YORK, NY – The No. 6 seeded CCNY men's volleyball team fell to the No. 3 John Jay Bloodhounds in the first round of the CUNY Athletic Conference Championship on Tuesday.
Carlos Maldonado Madrid posted a match-high 16 kills, eight blocks and two blocks in the effort for the Lavender & Black.
David Cham connected on seven kills, along with 10 digs.
Seth Diaz led the team with four blocks to go with six kills and three digs.
Hei Chun Chan led the team with 25 assists.
The Bloodhounds jumped out to a 10-4 advantage in the first set, leading to them taking the set 25-17. CCNY recovered to tie the match in the second period, 25-21
In the third set, the Beavers held a 19-17 lead, following a
David Cham kill. John Jay was able to push for a late rally to pull out a 25-23 set victory. A 6-1 run in the fourth set for the hosts created a seven-point margin that later turned into a 12 point victory at 25-13 to take the match.
CCNY ends the season with a 12-10 (3-5 CUNYAC) record.
