Jamaica, N.Y. - The CCNY women's basketball dropped a tight conference contest to the Brooklyn College Bulldogs, 60-54, on Friday night.
The loss snaps the CCNY's five-game winning streak, dropping the Beavers to 14-9 overall and 9-5 in CUNY Athletic Conference play.
In the opening quarter, CCNY shot 42.9% from the floor while holding Brooklyn to only 33% shooting in the period. The Beavers closed out the quarter with a 17-14 lead over the Bulldogs.
In the second quarter, a 9-0 run to start the frame helped give the Beavers an 11-point lead.
Emily Arias's three-pointer with 5:59 to go in the quarter gave the team a 25-14 lead.
CCNY ended the first half with a 10-point lead (36-26) entering halftime.
Trailing 36-26 heading into the third quarter, Brooklyn outscored the Beavers 24-10 in the frame, shooting 47.1% from the floor to own a four-point lead (50-46) heading into the fourth quarter.
Nearly five minutes into the final period, a basket by
Anielle Fredman narrowed Brooklyn's lead to two points (52-50) with 05:32 remaining.
The Bulldogs would hold their ground, outscoring CCNY 8-4 in the final stretch of the game to escape with a 60-54 victory.

Emily Arias had eight points. Sophomore
Crystal Blair had four points and eight rebounds while Fredman contributed five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
