Throggs Neck, N.Y. – The CCNY men's soccer team dropped its season-opener Saturday afternoon, falling Maritime College in a tight non-conference, 1-0.
Maritime got on the board in the 13
th minute with Anthony Sblendorio netting the lone via a penalty kick.
Maritime held the offensive advantage in the first half, outshooting the Beavers 4-1.
In the 64
th minute of play, a wide-right shot from freshman
Mohamadou Diallo nearly tied the match.

In the end, Maritime ended the game with an 11-4 shot edge with eight shots landing on goal. Rookie goalkeeper
Kacper Lesniak made key saves for the Beavers in goal, totaling seven in the contest.
The CCNY men's soccer team will next be in action on Wednesday, September 3, when the Beavers play at Rutgers-Newark.
