New York, NY - The City College of New York men's soccer team returned to their home pitch Saturday evening, defeating Hunter College, 3-2. The win improves the Beavers to 4-5 on the season, and 4-1 in CUNY Athletic Conference play.
Less than six minutes in, freshman Adrian Montalvan netted the match's first goal, scoring his third goal of the season.
In the second period, junior John Yauri found the back of the net in the 47th minute off an assist from Montalvan and Sophomore Ishmael Quansah to give CCNY a 2-0 advantage.
Later in the period, sophomore Amadou Barry connected on a successful penalty kick in the 71st minute for his first goal of the season to the Beavers lead to 3-0.
Hunter cut into CCNY's lead margin as Blaise Enama knocked in a shot at the 76:17 mark to get on the boards. Nearly a minute later, Enama scored the second goal for the Hawks, cutting CCNY's lead to one score, 3-2.
In all, Hunter outshot CCNY in the game 13-9. CCNY landed six shots on goal.
Freshman Mikhael Torres had a strong performance in goal for the Beavers, making three saves.
Next, the Beavers travel to take Wayne, New Jersey, for a non-conference contest against William Patterson on Monday, Oct. 18 at 3:30 p.m.
