CCNY Men’s Soccer Wraps Up Conference Play with Win Over Medgar Evers, 4-2

Brooklyn, NY - The City College of New York men's soccer team wrapped up conference play on Saturday, defeating Medgar Evers College on the road, 4-2. The Beavers improve to 5-7 overall and finish league competition with a 5-2 mark, earning the third seed for the upcoming CUNY Athletic Conference Championships.

In the closing seconds of the first period (44:59), sophomore Ishmael Quansah netted his first goal of the season and first of the game for CCNY. Sophomore Moustapha Salane tallied his first score of the season in the 50th minute, putting the Beavers ahead 2-0.

Freshman Yusef Abdelmegid nailed in his first goal as a Beaver ten minutes into the second-half (55:00) before freshman Vincent Moreno netted his first of the season in the 60th minute for the Beavers fourth and final goal.

Junior John Yauri facilitated the offense for the Beavers, dishing out two helpers in the victory. Salane and Abdelmegid also out dished out an assist.

In goal, freshman John Creegan made his first start for the Beavers, allowing two goals in 90 minutes. 

The Beavers outshot the Cougars 27-6 in the contest, drilling 15 shots on goal. 

Next, the Beavers close the regular season on Monday, Oct. 15, at Montclair State University at 7:30 p.m.
