Women’s Soccer Falls to Lehman in CUNYAC Semifinals, 2-1

New York, NY - The City College of New York women's soccer team was upended on Saturday in the semifinals of the 2021 CUNY Athletic Conference Championship Tournament, falling to No.4 seeded Lehman College, 2-1, at home.

The Lightning got ahead early, netting the first score of the day five minutes into the contest. Lehman's Melanie Huerta netted the opening goal.

The Lightning held CCNY scoreless for the remainder of the half.

In the 73rd minute, MacKenzie Moreno found the back of the net, evening the match, after chipping in a shot inside the box off an assist from Cassidy Canberg.

Lehman answered back in the 82nd minute, taking advantage of a late foul. On a free kick opportunity, Micaela Canapa buried a shot from 15 yards out to regain the lead, 2-1.

The Beavers would run out of time to tie the game as time would expire.

CCNY outshot Lehman 10-9 in the game.

Freshman Charlotte Foberg had a team-high three shots for the Beavers. Nicole Magretta, Moreno, and Canberg each had a pair of shots recorded in the match.

Freshman Rosario Baltazar started in goal, making four stops.

The CCNY women's soccer program concludes the season with a 7-7 overall record.
