Danbury, Conn. – The City College of New York women's basketball program opened the 2021-22 season on Saturday, falling on the road to Western Connecticut State University, 72-30.
Freshman two-sport student-athlete Charlotte Foberg led the Beavers with a double-double, finishing with 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, along with game-high four blocks. Freshman Fatoumata Nantoume posted a game-high 13 points, six rebounds, and two assists.
Freshman Leondra Craig tallied four points, four rebounds, and two steals. Freshman Theresa Luna recorded three points and four rebounds, while Jackeline Guillen, a two-sport student-athlete, saw 40 minutes of action, grabbing one rebound.
Western Connecticut owned the rebounding battle, outrebounding the Beavers 57-34 in the contest. The Colonies outshot CCNY 33.7% to 28.9% in the game.
The CCNY women's basketball program returns to action when they host Farmingdale State College in their home opener on Monday, Nov. 29, at the Nat Holman Gymnasium at 6:00 p.m.
