Delaware Valley Tops CCNY

DOYLESTOWN, PA – The City College of New York women's soccer team traveled to Delaware Valley for a non-conference matchup on Saturday night.  CCNY (0-2-0) was unable to earn its first victory of the season, however, as the host Aggies (3-0-0) came away with a 7-0 win at James Work Memorial Stadium.

Delaware Valley got on the board first when Jess Williamson found the back of the net in the 17th minute.  CCNY goalkeeper Rosario Baltazar (Bronx, NY) kept it close, though, making three saves in the opening 45 minutes and sending the teams into the locker room with the score still 1-0 in favor of the Aggies.

A pair of goals less than a minute apart early in the second half extended Delaware Valley's cushion to 3-0.  The Aggies, who outshot the Beavers 27-6 (including 13-2 in shots on goal), added four more tallies to finish off a 7-0 victory.

For Delaware Valley, Williamson had two goals and two assists, while goalkeeper Olivia Sherwood saved both shots she faced.  Baltazar (0-1-0) recorded six saves in her CCNY debut.

Up next for CCNY is the home opener at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.  The Beavers will take on Old Westbury (0-1-0) at Randall's Island Field 10.
