New York, NY - In front of an energetic crowd at the Nat Holman Gymnasium, The City College of New York men's volleyball team defended their home court, defeating the John Jay College Bloodhounds in four sets on Tuesday night. The victory elevates the Beavers to 10-5 overall, and 5-4 in CUNY Athletic Conference play.
The Beavers took the opening set, earning a 25-20 victory. A back-and-forth tense second set ended in the Beaver's favor, muscling out a 28-26 victory. The Bloodhounds scored their first set victory in the third frame, earning a 25-17 decision. Another tightly contested set played out in the fourth frame, as the Beavers rallied to a 27-25 victory, securing the win.
Xhulio Myftari led CCNY with a match-high 25 kills, six digs, four aces, and five blocks while tallying 33.5 points. Freshman
Utpal Chand piled up eight kills, seven digs, and a block.
Rahul Sharma added eight kills and a match-high 12 digs in the win.
