Old Westbury, NY - The City College of New York men's basketball team picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday night, defeating the Old Westbury Panthers on the road, 81-58.
Four Beavers scored in double figures on Saturday, with senior
Yassine Sakhi leading the way with a game-high 24 points, adding four rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Sophomore
Ricardo Dixon finished with 17 points and six boards. Junior
Edward Beqiri netted 12 points with seven rebounds. Junior
Chris Stone picked up 10 points, nine rebounds, and three assists.
Sophomore
Michael Bowman totaled six points, while
Jordan Williams added five points and two rebounds,
Elijah Patterson had four points and five rebounds, and
Kayson Dinkins posted three points, four rebounds, and two assists.
The Beavers shot 47.5 percent from the field on Tuesday, holding Old Westbury to 33.8 percent for the game. They outrebounded the Panthers 43-32. CCNY dominated from short range, scoring 44 points in the paint while allowing just 26, also picking up 18 second-chance points.
Next, the Beavers return to action this weekend for the 2023 Cadet/Mariner Classic in New London, Conn. CCNY will take on Coast Guard in the opener on Friday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m. and close out the weekend on Saturday against Mitchell College at 1:00 p.m.
