New York, NY - The City College of New York women's track & field team competed on Friday evening at the NYU DIII Invitational, held at the Nike Track and Field Center at the Armory in New York City.
Sophomore
Stephanie Toussaint earned a pair of top-10 finishes to lead the lead, Beavers. In the weight, she placed fourth overall with a throw of 10.39m and picked up a tenth-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 9.43m.
In the 800-meter run, sophomore
Zara McPartland ran a personal-best time of 2:40.88, while freshman
Samantha Maendel clocked a time of 2:54.95. With their performance, McPartland ranks atop the CUNY Athletic Conference with the fastest time run this season, while Maendel holds the second-fastest time run.
Maendel also led the Beavers in the sprints, running a personal-best time of 8.96 in the 60-meter dash and a new conference-leading mark of 1:08.05 in the 400-meter dash.
In the women's mile run, sophomore
Aakaysha Williams ran a time of 6:27.10, setting a new personal-best mark.
The Beavers 4x400m relay team of
Johanni Valerio,
Kaylin Soto,
Eki Igbineweka, and
Joeli Valerio placed 16th overall in a time of 5:39.26
Next, the CCNY track & field program returns to competition at the Fastrack National Invitational on Friday, Feb. 10, at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Center in Staten Island, NY.
