Jamaica, NY - The City College of New York men's soccer team earned its third straight victory Saturday afternoon, defeating Medgar Evers College, 3-1, in the CUNY Athletic Conference play.
The win lifts the Beavers to 3-5-3 overall and 3-0-1 in league play.
The Beavers opened the scoring in the seventh minute with freshman Fernando Madrid finding a pass from junior Aliou Ndiaye. Five minutes later (11:23), junior Hazim Naji doubled the Beavers lead, scoring his first goal of the season off an assist from senior Yusuf Abdelmegid.
In the second half, John Amady registered the Cougar's lone goal in the 49th minute.
CCNY added an insurance goal in the 79th minute as Ndiaye dished out his second assist of the day, setting up freshman Yanis Hamdi Pacha for his third goal of the season.
The Beavers outshot the Cougars 22-7 in the contest, holding a 15-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Senior Mikhael Torres started in goal for the Beavers, making four stops and notching his first win of the season.
Next, CCNY will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at home against Brooklyn College at 7:00 p.m. at Randall's Island Field 10.
