Langhorne, PA – The City College of New York men's basketball team opened its 2025 season on the road Monday night, falling to Cairn University, 102–71.
Senior guard Justin Morety led the Beavers with a strong all-around performance, posting a 20-point, 11-rebound double-double, while adding three assists. Senior Michael Bowman followed closely behind with 18 points on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting, including two three-pointers.
Freshman forward Komron Ergashev contributed 12 points and a pair of three-pointers in his collegiate debut, while freshman Samuel Olubakin and sophomore David Leye each added six points.
Despite a competitive first half, Cairn's hot shooting and fast-paced offense proved too much in the final stretch. The Beavers continued to battle on the glass, with a 25–20 advantage in defensive rebounds, but couldn't overcome the Highlanders' 56% field goal mark.
CCNY returns to action later this week, taking on The College OF New Jersey on Friday, Nov. 14, in the opener of the 2025 Greg Grant Tip-Off Tournament.
