Jamaica, NY - The City College of New York women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to John Jay College in the 2025 CUNY Athletic Conference Championship game on Saturday afternoon.
John Jay struck early, taking a 1–0 lead in the 15th minute on a goal from Katy Shurson, assisted by Sofia Soler. The Bloodhounds extended their advantage in the 20th minute when Soler converted a penalty kick. Despite several strong defensive sequences, CCNY conceded a late goal in the 90th minute, as Soler tallied her second of the match off an assist from Emma Fisher.
The Beavers created several scoring chances throughout the contest, led by junior
Sara Rodriguez, who recorded four shots and three on goal. Freshmen
Elsa Gashi,
Litsi Auquilla,
Sara Dos Santos, and sophomore
Valeria Diaz each added attempts for CCNY.
In goal, senior
Laila Issa turned in another resilient performance, making six saves over 90 minutes of play.
The Beavers finish their 2025 season with a 4-8-3 overall record.
