NEW YORK, NY — Karina Jorge '04, '11, Interim Director of Athletics at The City College of New York (CCNY), has been named a recipient of the 2025 CCNY Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award. This prestigious honor recognizes her decades-long dedication to student-athletes, exemplary leadership, and steadfast commitment to the mission of the College. The award was presented at the 173rd Annual Meeting of the CCNY Alumni Association.
Presented annually, the Distinguished Service Award honors individuals whose sustained contributions have made a lasting and meaningful impact on the CCNY community.
A two-time alumna and former women's volleyball standout, Jorge has been an integral part of CCNY Athletics for over 20 years. She is widely respected for her commitment to student-athlete success, institutional integrity, and inclusive leadership.
Appointed Interim Director of Athletics in Fall 2024, Jorge has led the department through a time of transition with stability and a student-centered approach. Since 2009, she has also served as CCNY's Senior Woman Administrator, advancing gender equity and strategic planning in college athletics. In her compliance role, she oversees NCAA Division III and CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) standards, academic eligibility, and policies that uphold accountability and excellence.
Jorge's influence extends beyond campus through her active participation on NCAA and CUNYAC committees. A graduate of the NCAA Division III Institute for Administrative Advancement, she is a recognized leader in collegiate athletics.
She resides in the Bronx with her two children, Alexander Emmanuel and Emma Sofia.
