New York, NY – This July, The City College of New York's very own Jessica Gniedziejko will take her talents to the global stage as she represents Team USA in Taekwondo at the Summer World University Games, held July 17–23.

"I am very excited to have the opportunity to represent my school in the biggest collegiate tournaments in the World," said Gniedziejko. "It is an honor not only to be competing in the sport I love, but also to be showing up for CCNY doing so. The World stage is intimidating, but I know that with my preparations and the support that I have here in Germany and back home in NYC, I am able to accomplish what I desire."

A second-year Communications major and proud Ridgewood, Queens native, Jessica isn't just balancing the life of a full-time student—she's also one of the most promising young athletes in collegiate Taekwondo. Her journey to international competition began at just seven years old, inspired by a martial arts gym across the street from her home. Today, she stands at the top of her game, ready to compete against the world's best university athletes.

After earning her spot on the USA collegiate team earlier this year through a rigorous national trial, Jessica has trained relentlessly, sharpening her skills with a mix of team practices, independent workouts, and mental preparation. Her commitment to discipline, focus, and resilience has set her apart—on campus and on the mat.

Jessica is no stranger to high-level competition. Last fall, she captured gold at the FISU America Games in Cali, Colombia, becoming the only female Team USA athlete to take home top honors in Taekwondo. Her performance, including a thrilling 10–8 final victory, earned her national recognition and confirmed her status as a rising star in the sport.

Now, with her eyes on the 2025 Summer Universiade in Germany and ultimately the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Jessica continues to embody the spirit of CCNY: perseverance, excellence, and leadership.

As the Summer World University Games unfold, the CCNY community will be cheering Jessica on—celebrating not only her athletic talent, but the strength, passion, and pride she brings to the City College name.
