Quinnesec, MI - The City College of New York's Jamie Angeli is set to become a two-time Hall of Famer honoree, honoring accomplishments as a player, coach, and administrator. In September, he was inducted into the West Iron County High School Wall of Fame and was recently announced as a member of the 2025 Upper Peninsula of Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Class.
After serving as the Associate Director of Athletics for Marketing for over a decade, Angeli was recently elevated to Associate Director of Student Life and Civic Engagement.
Angeli will enter the prestigious Upper Peninsula of Michigan Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday, May 10, at Island Resort & Casino in Harris, Mi, joining the likes of previous inductees Tom Izzo (Michigan State Basketball), Steve Mariucci (NFL), Stan Albeck (NBA), and George "The Gipper" Gipp (Notre Dame Football).
Angeli graduated from West Iron County HS in Iron River, Michigan, in 1980 and from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 1985. He then embarked on a successful athletic coaching and administrative career that spanned 40+ years in three countries and seven states.
As a "Wykon" high school basketball player, Angeli led the conference in scoring both years on the varsity, was a two-time unanimous All U.P. First Team selection, and was All-State as a senior. He continued his collegiate playing career at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
As a coach, Angeli has an overall head coaching record of 221-136 (.619). He started his head coaching career in 1986 at Kingsford HS (MI). He won a district championship at Norway HS (MI) in 1997 and multiple professional titles in Qatar from 2004-2007, winning the coveted Asian Cup in 2005. He was named Coach of the Year four times, most recently at the collegiate level (CCNY) in 2016. Angeli was also an assistant at the Division 1 level for 12 years, most notably with UCLA Basketball (1998-2004), competing in the NCAA tournament five times, three times reaching the Sweet 16.
He is the author of 20+ best-selling publications on basketball and was a featured clinician for USA Basketball and the Women's Final Four. He is also widely known throughout the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Northeast Wisconsin for his summer Basketball Camp of Champs, which was recently resurrected after a 20-year hiatus, instructing 200 campers this past summer.
