New York, NY – The City College of New York men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw in their home opener Wednesday night against Pratt Institute.
Freshman Bitoshoke Chakma made an immediate impact, scoring his first career goal in the 50th minute to give the Beavers the lead. Chakma was a constant threat throughout the match, registering a team-high six shots, with four on target.
Pratt answered back in the 71st minute when Dylan Costa, assisted by Alex Abbruzzese, netted the equalizer.
The Beavers generated plenty of opportunities, outshooting Pratt 21-9 and putting 11 shots on frame. Senior Aliou Ndiaye added four shots, while freshman Yair Roman and Carlos Ortiz each tested the keeper with dangerous looks.
In net, sophomore goalkeeper Rudy Gutierrez went the full 90 minutes, recording two saves.
Next, the Beavers travel to play Saint Elizabeth University on Saturday, September 20, at 2:00 p.m.
