CCNY Women’s Basketball Falls on the Road to Hunter

New York, NY - The City College of New York women's basketball team fell on the road Friday evening to Hunter College, 99-34, in CUNYAC women's basketball action.

The Hawks jumped out early, opening the game on a dominant run and leading 35–8 after the first quarter. Hunter's defensive intensity set the tone, forcing turnovers and converting them into transition points, while CCNY struggled to find a rhythm offensively.

Hunter continued to control the pace in the second quarter, extending the lead to 53–13 at halftime. The Hawks shot efficiently throughout the half and consistently capitalized on second-chance opportunities, while limiting CCNY to just four made field goals over the first 20 minutes.

Despite the deficit, CCNY continued to compete after the break. The Beavers showed improved ball movement in the third quarter and matched some of Hunter's physicality on the glass, but the Hawks maintained control, pushing the advantage to 81–22 entering the final period.

CCNY closed the game with its most productive quarter offensively, scoring 12 points in the fourth, highlighted by balanced contributions from the starting unit and bench. Ashley Subervi led CCNY with six points and a team-high 10 rebounds, while Ashley Colon and Yazmin Loma Romero each added six points.

Hunter was paced by Alexa Charles, who scored a game-high 22 points. The Hawks received strong contributions across the lineup, with five players finishing in double figures and the bench accounting for 43 points. Hunter finished with a decisive edge in points off turnovers (59–7) and fast-break scoring (27–6).

CCNY moves to 4–12 overall and 2–6 in CUNYAC play, while Hunter improves to 14–5 overall and 7–1 in conference action.
