CCNY Women’s Soccer Opens CUNYAC Play with 13-0 Shutout of Medgar Evers

New Rochelle, NY — The City College of New York women's soccer team opened CUNYAC play in dominant fashion on Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 13-0 shutout victory over Medgar Evers College.

The Beavers (3-4-0, 1-0-0 CUNYAC) wasted no time establishing control, scoring five goals in the opening 10:50 of the match. Pamela Pineda opened the scoring just 35 seconds into the contest, with Marjorie Placensia adding another goal less than a minute later.

Valeria Diaz then scored twice in a span of just over two minutes, finding the back of the net at 2:49 and 4:58 to give CCNY a 4-0 advantage. Yessenia Yascaribay capped the first-half scoring at 10:50, sending the Beavers into halftime with a commanding 5-0 lead.

CCNY continued its offensive attack in the second half, scoring eight more goals.

Diaz completed her hat trick just 90 seconds into the second half before adding her fourth goal at 47:45, with Valentina Diaz providing the assist. Pineda added her second goal of the afternoon at 55:41, assisted by Yascaribay.

Dianne Guncay followed with a goal at 59:39, assisted by Josoniah Terry, before Larisa Hodzic scored at 62:03.

The Beavers continued to find the back of the net late in the match, with Zherlyn Valdez scoring at 76:39 off an assist from Sarah Applewhite. Applewhite then added a goal of her own at 79:50 before Jade Salas capped the scoring with CCNY's 13th goal at 88:14.

CCNY finished the afternoon with a 25-0 advantage in shots, including an 18-0 edge in shots on goal. The Beavers also earned three corner kicks while holding Medgar Evers without a corner.

The Beavers' defense was equally impressive, recording a complete shutout. Goalkeepers Elsa Gashi and Jade Salas each played 45 minutes and combined for the clean sheet, with neither goalkeeper required to make a save.

Diaz led the offensive charge with four goals, while Pineda added two goals. Placensia, Yascaribay, Guncay, Hodzic, Valdez, Applewhite and Salas each contributed one goal.

With the victory, CCNY begins CUNYAC play 1-0-0 and improves to 3-4-0 overall.
