Brooklyn, NY - The City College of New York men's volleyball team earned a convincing straight-set victory over Pratt on Wednesday night, improving to 2-2 overall on the season. The Beavers controlled the tempo from start to finish, using a balanced offensive attack and strong net play to secure the win over the Cannoneers.
CCNY finished the match with 32 kills and a .188 attack percentage, while holding Pratt to a .154 clip. The Beavers also made their presence felt at the net, totaling 13 blocks as a team and consistently disrupting Pratt's offensive rhythm.
Offensively, sophomore
Gabriel Linus led CCNY with 11 kills on .286 hitting, adding key points in crucial stretches. Sophomore
Nana Boateng chipped in eight kills and contributed defensively, while Sophomore
Amir Nabiyev posted six kills, two service aces, and four block assists in a strong all-around performance. Freshman
Roman Dishmey anchored the blocking effort with four solo blocks, helping CCNY maintain control at the net.
Setter
Ruben Santiago orchestrated the offense efficiently, dishing out 29 assists to go along with solid defensive play. Defensively, CCNY recorded 33 digs, led by Linus and
Nheil Mortega, keeping rallies alive and limiting second-chance opportunities for Pratt.
Pratt was paced by Max Wang with nine kills, but CCNY's consistent pressure from the service line and at the net prevented the Cannoneers from building sustained momentum.
