Vincent Cuomo, CCNY alumni and athletics Hall of Famer, was named the 12th head coach for the CCNY Men's Ice Hockey program.
A four-year letterman and team captain for the Beavers (1975-79), Cuomo will be tasked with leading the reemergence of the Ice Hockey program at City College.
In his time at CCNY, Cuomo remains the only player to play in four varsity seasons for the Beavers. In 1978 under head coach John Meekins, Cuomo helped lead CCNY to their first CUNY Championship Hockey Tournament appearance, capturing the Conference Championship. Cuomo was named to a Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference All-Star that same season. A product of the very successful Greater New York City Ice Hockey League starting in 1970 before attending CCNY.
He was inducted into the CCNY Alumni Varsity Association Hall of Fame in 2019.
Cuomo holds a level 4 coaching certification with USA Hockey and has coached several levels, including mite, midget, tier 1, tier 2.
For two seasons (2012-14), he served as the head coach at Morristown Beard School's Middle School team. In 2014, he became the varsity team manager, helping usher the squad to a New Jersey State Championship. Cuomo worked closely with Head Coach Bruce Driver, who played for both the Rangers and Devils during his NHL career and Randy Valischek, a 15-year NHL veteran, who coached the Morristown Beard girls' team.
Cuomo graduated from CCNY in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He began a successful business career working on Wall Street in the commodities sector post-graduation. In the early 1980s, he worked for Dean Witter Reynolds and the Continental Grain Company before joining the Commodities Exchange in 1985 trading in gold and copper futures.
He joined the New York Mercantile Exchange in 1986 in energy futures trading operations and became a member of the New York Mercantile Exchange as an Energy Futures Trader in 1988.
Cuomo participates on the Northeastern University Parents Leadership Council's Committee on Varsity and Club Athletics, where his children attended college.
He and his wife, Theresa, have five children; Rebecca, Dominic, Maximillian, Isabella, and Joseph.
