Newberg comes to CCNY from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York, where he spent this past season as an assistant men’s basketball coach with the Mavericks. While there he played an integral role in skill development, practice plans and scouting opponents. It is the latter that caught Angeli’s attention right away during the interview process.
“Ben has an excellent background in the basketball coaching profession on the men’s side throughout the area, but it was his experience and skill set in the area of preparing scouting reports and breaking down game film that was extremely important to me. He will be invaluable to the overall success of our program and I am looking forward to working with Ben,” Angeli remarked.
Prior to his last coaching stop at Mercy College, Newberg has also held collegiate assistant coaching stops at SUNY Sullivan and SUNY New Paltz. In addition to those assistant positions, Newberg has also worked as an AAU Coach and Instructor with the House of Sports in Ardsley, New York as well as the Sullivan Select AAU Team in Monticello, New York during the past year.
In October 2012, Newberg was also employed by Krossover, a New York City based company that specializes in online sports game film study, breakdown and analytics.
Newberg earned his undergraduate degree in English in 2010 from SUNY Albany (NY) and his Master's in Business Administration from Mercy College in 2014.
