The City College of New York women's soccer team put up a dominate 13-0 victory over conference opponent Medgar Evers on Saturday at Randall's Island. CCNY had two student-athletes record hat-tricks in the victory.
City (1-8-1, 1-2-1 CUNYAC) started the match off quick with the first goal of the season at the 4' by
Marissa Olsen. Olsen got the ball at midfield and dribbled past defenders to go one-on-one with Medgar Evers goalie. Olsen took the shot and managed to get the ball past the goalie. Not too long after,
Emily Ramos crossed the ball to Olsen who scored her second goal of the season.
Ramos picked up a goal of her own when
Qiumei Zhang gave a soft short pass to Ramos who then shot it on goal. The Beavers had a comfortable 3-0 lead at the 7'. Zhang picked up a goal of her own at the 14'. She got the ball in the middle of the box and put it right on goal to City a 4-0 lead.
The Beaver continued to dominate the first half when Ramos picked up her second goal on the season.
Michelle Rodriguez picked up her first goal of the season when she got the ball off of a save and shot it into the bottom left corner.
Ramos comnpleted a hat-trick at the 32' to give City a 7-0 lead. The Beavers had two more goals to put them up 9-0.
Margot Salas picked up the eighth goal of the match with a tip in from the left side.
Annette Scotto picked up the final goal of the half when she shot it from the middle of the box and it bounced off the goalie to put CCNY up 9-0 going into halftime.
The Beavers settled down in the second half.
Elif Demircan was able to get the ball into the wide open net for the Beavers to take a 10-0 lead.
Lizzette Salmeron picked up her first goal of the season off of a corner kick. She got the ball on the right side of the field and shot it into the left bottom corner.
CCNY picked up two more goals during the second half.
Leanna Rodriguez scored at the 71' with a break away and gentle kick into the goal. City had one more Beaver pick up a hat-trick.
Marissa Olsen, who scored twice in the first half, was able to get it on goal when the goalie was out of the box.
The Beavers held Medgar Evers to no shots during the entire match.
CCNY will face College of Staten Island on Saturday, October 10 for the next conference matchup. The match will take place at 9:30 a.m.
