The City College of New York women's basketball team fell 56-45 to Brooklyn College on Tuesday night.
The game started off slow for both sides and each looked to take the lead in the conference game. Once both teams got into their groove, it was a back-and-forth game. After the first quarter, CCNY led 8-7.
In the second quarter, both teams woke up and took control of each possession. The Bulldogs were able to get the advantage on City's fouls. Brooklyn scored 10 points of off free throws and led 26-26 at the half. City shot .250 in the first half of the game, while they held Brooklyn to .212.
To start the third quarter, City came out strong looking to take the lead, but the Bulldogs held on and continued to add to their lead. After the third quarter, the Bulldogs still held the advantage.
With the game still close, CCNY looked to make some stops and gain the lead. City went on a 8-0 run to tie the game 42-42, but the Bulldogs would not give that up easily and went on a 10-0 run to take the 52-42. City fell 45-56 in the final minutes of the game.
Erika Richards led the team with 17 points, while
Tiara Brown led the team with 14 rebounds. The team capitalized and scored 13 points off of Brooklyn turnovers.
The Beavers will travel to Bard College on Wednesday, December 2 to begin their road slate. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
