The City College of New York men's soccer team took a heartbreaking conference 2-1 loss to Brooklyn College at Randall's Island in New York, New York.
The first half was an intense matchup between the two conference foes. Brooklyn struck first at 6:38 and took a 1-0 lead. The remainder of the half continued to hold back-and-forth action for the two teams.
The Beavers came into the second half with the longing for a second conference win. At the 60' they tied up the match with a goal from
Stephanos Hondrakis with the cross from Abdul Rashid Abdulai. Both teams continued to fight for a victory. With the intense matchup, and with our second half goal City forced overtime.
Once overtime began it was a fight for the conference victory. Unfortunately, there was a handball in the box that set up Brooklyn up for a penalty kick. With that shot, they took the conference match 2-1 (OT).
Goalkeeper,
Maxwell Berkow, had nine saves in the loss. Brooklyn got 20 shots off, while City got off 18.
The team will face Medgar Evers in a conference matchup Saturday, September 26 at 9:30 a.m. The match will be played on Randall's Island at field #91.
