New York, NY – The City College volleyball program fell in straight sets to CUNYAC opponent Baruch College on Thursday night. The Bearcats took the first set 25-11, and gathered momentum in sets two and three to finish off the Beavers, 25-16, 25-16.
Sophomore Camila Franco-Diaz had a team-high five kills. Junior Irishvarsha Lyyadura contributed two kills and Brigitte Bozar had one. Franco-Diaz also had three blocks. Junior Tenaya Hawkins added nine assists. Junior Veralucia Quispe recorded 14 digs, while Lyyadura had nine and sophomore Lesly Polanco had seven.
For Baruch, Akilah Meulens led the Bearcats with 14 kills. Stephanie Cornwall posted a match-high 23 assists and nine digs.
CCNY will be back in action in the Wilkes Tournament in Wilkes-Barr, P.A. this weekend. The team will play against Alfred State and Moravian College on Friday (Oct. 21) and Wikes University and Keystone College on Saturday (Oct. 22).
