New York, N.Y. – The City College women's soccer program clinched the CUNYAC playoffs on Saturday, Oct. 22th with an impressive 4-0 win over York College. The Beavers dominated the match to improve to 7-6-0 and 3-3-0 in conference play. The Beavers offense was highlighted by two goals from freshmen Melany Caceres. Freshmen Tatiana Zuluaga pitched in two assits in the game.
Melany Caceres opened the scoring in the 24th minute, finding the back of the net off a feed from senior Marissa Olsen. At the conclusion of the first half, CCNY outshot York 6-2, and held a 5-0 corner kick advantage.
CCNY scored their second goal early in the second half when Caceres would net her second goal in the 47th minute, with a dished assist from Tatiana Zuluaga. The Beavers would score again in the 57th minute. This time coming from senior Marissa Olsen registering her 17th goal of the season. Olsen hooked up with Isabella Molina to put the team up 3-0.
The Lavender and Black fourth goal came when Isabella Molina netted a shot off a corner kick from Zuluaga. Catherine Langkamp made her thirteenth start in goal. Lampkamp posted her seveth shutout the season and made one save.
The Beavers outshot the Cardinals 12-2, and had 7 shots on goal.
Up next, the Beavers will jump back into action on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 4:00 p.m.as they take on College of Mount St. Vincent in Riverdale, NY.
