Brooklyn Sinks CCNY, 3-0

New York, NY - The City College women's soccer program fell to Brooklyn College by a final of 3-0.  It is the Beavers third consecutive loss to an CUNYAC opponent, and the defeat pushes the Beavers to 3-6-0 after the first month of competition.  It is the third time this season that the team have gone pointless in games.

CCNY started the game off strong with a good scoring opportunity in the first  minute.  Freshmen Tatiana Zuluaga took shot on net, forcing Brooklyn's goalkeeper Samantha Rodriguez to make a quick-reflex save.

In the sixth minute, the Bulldogs got on the scoreboard. Brooklyn's Senior Jordan Kerwin netted her fifth goal to put the Bulldogs up 1-0.

Two minutes later, Brooklyn once again pounced on CCNY. Brooklyn's Cansu Usta scored off a header assisted by Iliana Cabral from a corner kick to give the away team a 2-0 lead.

The Bulldogs would score again in the second half from another cover kick from Iliana Cabral, that was headed in by Sayla Flores.

Brooklyn outshot CCNY 17-9, and held a 8-5 corner kick opportunity advantage. Catherine Lamgkamp made nine saves in net for the Beavers.

With the loss, the Gaels record stands at 3-6-0, and 0-3-0 in conference play.

CCNY returns to action this Wednesday (Oct. 12) at home at Randall's Island against York College.  Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
