New York, NY - The City College Men's Basketball team defeated Montclair State University 85-64, in their second game of the 2016 Ollie Gelston Classic on Saturday. Khalil Hamer and David Solano finished with 26 and 22 points respectively for the Beavers.-
Montclair State took control of the game early on, taking a 9-2 lead with 16:14 in the first half. The Beavers would take the lead after a three-pointer from David Solano. A pair of free throws by Khalil Hamer with 5 seconds left in the first half gave CCNY its largest lead of the half, 14-points, at 41-27. The score was 41-27 at the half.
Montclair fought back in the second half and got as close as ten points, but no closer. The lead grew as high as 22 points for CCNY on foul shots Mark Richards at 00:47. The Beaverss won 85-64
Hamer finished with 26 points on 7-for-15 from the field and 5-for-7 from the 3PT line in the win. Solano totaled 22 points on 7-for-14 from the field and 5-for-12 from the 3PT line. Robbie Dionisio tacked 11 points and 9 rebounds. Dardan Lahu added 9 points and 4 rebounds. The Beavers shot 86% from the free throw line and scored 20 points off of turnovers.
The City College Men's Basketball team will return to action on Tuesday, November 22nd, against the SUNY Cortland at home tipping off at 5:00pm.
