Patchogue, N.Y. - The City College Women's Basketball team defeated host St. Joesph's College - Long Island, 93-63, in their season opener on Saturday. Six Beavers finished the game in double figures.
Elizabeth Zullo was the offensive leader for CCNY, finishing with a team-high 16 points in the win. Erika Richards reached 15 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Debra Chan posted 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Beatrice Wallace added 13 points and a game-high 5 steals. Marissa Olsen finished with 12 points and Alexis Akridge came off the bench to chip in 11 points and 8 rebounds.
CCNY had a big first half, leading by 10 points (28-18) after a quarter and 14 points after the first half. The lead got as high as 32 points en route to the win.
The Beavers are now 1-0 with the victory. The team will return to action on Monday, November 21th, when they host the College of Mount Saint Vincent at 5pm.
